In the Carrer Major of Lloseta, there stands an old house at number 50. In early 1940, the Riera family decided to move all its production to this house, which has seen much thread entering it and much fabric leaving it, making it, in effect, another member of the family. Inside, time seems to have stood still.
On entering, the visitor allows himself to be caught up in a comforting sensation which allows him to reconnect with the past and with the simple things of life: this house with its hundred-year-old looms and its roof terrace with skeins of threads drying in the sun. It is a journey back to the origins of an artesan life.
The workshop of Teixits Riera is in Lloseta, a town at the foot of the Serra de Tramuntana, in the heart of Mallorca.
Every corner of this house, which holds our workshop, is waiting to reveal a part of the manufacturing process of our fabrics. Here, we invite you to come inside and find out about us.
From dyeing the threads through to obtaining the woven fabric, our weavers follow a technical process which has remained unchanged for centuries. Would you like to join us on this exciting journey?
